I installed cygwin (www.cygwin.com) on my Windows 98 PC (128MB RAM/233MMX). It's a UNIX environment emulator for Windows, with it you can do many things :D

It's neat being able to run a native Xwindow server and have the windowmanager and apps served through a tunnel :D
It ran a little slow, but I've got old PC's and cheap network cards. I'd imagine with good PC's this would be real great.
cygwin's XWindows comes with twm only. On the site they say they've got Gnome 1.4 and KDE 2.2 binaries. Once they get more lighweight window managers things should speed up.
I've heard that on Mac OSX Xwindows can run rootless! Xwindow apps can be on a MAC desktop without being restricted to a root window.
Just a couple more grand.....
