Nero installation causes CD problems

I installed Nero, and it seems to be burning everything fine.

However, I went to check an audio CD I burned with the Windows CD player (I think its actually the "deluxe" one). However, the music skips like mad, like every second. But the cd is fine, and it'll even play correctly through media player.

Is there any kind of bug or incompatibility that Nero causes to CD player that would do such a thing?

I'm assuming it worked fine before Nero?

Is this problem confined to cdr's burned with Nero or all of them now. Including those that are pressed not burned?

I'm assuming it did too. I don't usually use my computer for PLAYING cds (I'll rip them, but I'll rarely use the computer to play them), but I don't remember ever having a problem with it.

This happens with any cds, whether they're purchased or burned.

One thing I noticed is that after I put the CD in, even though media player doesn't pop up, its listed when I hit control-alt-delete (98SE). I don't know if that's causing some sort of error because both programs are trying to access the CD, but I'll look into that later tonight.
