I currently run Windows XP with a PPPoE based DSL connection. I'm currently using Windows XP's native PPPoE software (works great. more stable than RASPPPoE) and the Maximum MTU is 1480. Microsoft said there's no way you can get around it.. it's your MAX. This is what I get for the TCP/IP Analyzer..
TCP options string = 020405a001010402
MTU = 1480
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.
Since it's optimal for Window XP DSL PPPoE connection via WinXPPPoE, then it should say
MTU = 1480
MTU is fully optimized for WinXPPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500.
This will be less confusing.. If you know what I mean. But it's up to you.. if you don't want to bother with it, it's no problem :)
