First question is though lobo or monsteel how do you come up with a rwin number for example say i had 1.5mbs/256 on cable just trial and error reason being is I wouldn't mind trying to help out some ppl on this site or anywhere else with broadband. like how doy you know what rwin number to throw at the sorta speek
I need higher rwins in like 600-700 range..
the reason being I'm not hitting the cap comming close..
if you want afew more to try just look at the TCP/IP Analyzer and if you want even more then that, look for a posting started my me (BigAmp) called RWIN Values??? I think thats what I called it. there is a little program to download there that will give you some more.

For a 1500 kb/s cap I would try RWIN's of 51100, 64240, 96360 and 128480. Also follow ALL of the other settings and tweaks that Lobo and I suggest in our help threads i.e. NIC duplex mode, NIC buffer etc. Please read both of our help threads throughly there is alot of good information in them and together they answer just about any question you will have. Good luck.:) :D ;)
My RWIN recommendation are alittle different:
In Optimizer select connection type at top, select adapter, select custom settings, enter 1 at a time 51100 or 64240, uncheck scaling under Tcp1323Opts, apply changes and REBOOT each time you change number in Optimizer, the following numbers scaling IS checked, try besides the ones thats in now: 531440, 548960, 544800
Speed test here, test will open another browser, close one
directions on how to do speed test in help thread in signature: Select site nearest you:

If from overseas try nearest site from here: http://www.testmyspeed.com/internationalspeedtests.htm
Directions on what to do prior to speed test on help thread below, turn off all running programs.
Larger RWIN does not always mean faster:) :)

ALL recommended RWIN values are under 1MB, so there is no way they would affect the PC performance.
Any usable CPU / RAM combination should be able to handle high-speed traffic, however slower computers overloaded with a lot of running applications tend to have slower transfers by default... Simply because there are not enough resources left to fully exploit the potential of the Netwrk card, Winsock and so on.
Still, higher RWIN is better in all cases. The only exception is that when you go above 65535, the header gets a bit bigger, so there might be a slight performance drop just above a RWIN of 65535
If there is high packet loss or latency on the line, higher RWIN is still better, simply because you have the potential of higher throughput...
Just my 2c.
