I have charter cable modem everything has been working well until a few days ago. When I try to download a large file(100 megs or more) my downloading freezes usually at about 80%. I have tried charter tech suppport, no help. Tried downloading same files from various site, and different files also. Same results. Anybody heard or had that problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Haavok1:My first guess would be your browers cache is set to low for that big of file.Go to the control panel and open (internet option)under the General tap look at Temporary Internet files. click on the settings button .How many MB do you have set for the browers to use ? You may need to move the slide bar to increase size of cache the browers uses. You may need to Delete the cookies and delete file it may be full. See if that fixes it?

I've heard of situations like that as well as had some of my situations like that as described above... You are either using Grokster, Kazaa, WinMX, Imesh, Filetopia, Limewire or a well summed up version of some P2P file share program or you're downloading from a FTP site.. its really not your fault and there is not much you can do about it.. The People that are uploading to you are limiting there upload or dropping there connection altogether. Another thing that might be limiting you to get only 80% of your download may be due to your Drive folder Quota is being met so it won't let you get any further the download and it may even freeze up your computer or give you an error.
My advice to you is optimize your connection ... by getting the Optimizer (http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe)
And setting it to Optimal Settings for your type of internet connection. Save changes and reboot.
