From about 7pm to 11pm at night, I experience some terrilbe ping times with my ADSL modem. On server where I would normally ping around 60-70ms, my ping from 7-11pm is around 180ms.

I e-mailed my isp and they told me that this is happening because their broadband server becomes overwhelmed with users which cause lag. And that they are working to fix this problem.

I was just wondring if there was any way which i could personally fix this problem on my comp. any suggestions?

That's just the way it goes. Everyone gets home from work/school and hops onto the internet. You lots of traffic and your pings get terrible. You will just have to wait for your ISP to improve the problem from their end.

I'd say 180 during peak times is nothing to bitch about. Try 2000+ like I get w/ Cable during peaks. Hell I get packet loss too. Man this is really starting to piss me off. Called Cox and got the cold shoulder *****.

yeah its a problem in l.a and ny

FOR DSL USERS lag is increase not because bandwidth shortening out because to many people acces the network .example in one second 40,000 people wanaa acess the net so everyones date request have to been inline if your ping is the highes then you where the last one served .just like irq's
