Netgear Rp114 dropping connections

I just bought the netgear rp114 router a few days ago and ever since, every so often i will get diconnected from the internet, this is where i cant go to website, ping anything, aim gets disconnected and my downloads drop. Then i have to release and renew the ip for my computer and it works again but then happens, what can i do to stop this. Also i had a 3com router before this and i havent changed any of the comptuers settings and with the old router i never had any problems.

Check your documentation for setting up the WAN, it should have an option that allows the router to continue to lease new IP's on it's own. Does the WAN light stop blinking? If so this may be a problem with your router or firmware on the router. Also check the website for an update of firmware for your router, they may have fixes that solve these problems. When you view the download section fo the netgear website and choose the firmeware download it should give you a description of all the fixes.
