hi,

my cousin just bought a linksys router recently (BEFSR41- Cable/DSL Router with 4 port Switch). But we haven't managed to get it working yet :/

It networks the computers fine but it just doesn't get the ip from the isp
DHCP is activated all the settings seem fine. But it still doesn't work :/

Any ideas?

The only thing which hasn't been tried is flashing the firmware.

We are trying to network 3 pc's together sharing a cable (NTL) connection.

Any help would be grate thanks.

Did you reboot both the router and the modem?

try taking the MAC address from the comptuer it was hooked up to before and putting that in the mac clone address box on the advanced>mac clone tab in the router settings

Check your cable to the WAN port of the router- this should be a straight through cable, NOT a crossover. Is the link light on the WAN side lit?

Settings for router on primary setup page should be set to WAN IP- Obtain IP automatically; Login disabled; no host name, no domain name.

4ndy; when you set up any router you should only have one computer hook to the router ,you add the other computer after it is set up.you allso need to unplug the modem so it can reset
