I have not been able to figure out why my cable modem does not
have an MTU of 1500? I have tried to change this as stated in
SG's XP/2000 tweaks section, to no avail.

path:
start>run>"regedit">HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services \Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\<interface>

<interface> = being the only folder with my cable company name in it AND only <interface> with any options.
inside this folder is what i am looking for - MTU REG_DWORD Hexidecimal = 240 (576).......576 is what TCP analyzer states i am at.

any ideas why i cannot change this setting...PMTU discovery is set off =0

thanks in advanced.

Download SG Optimizer to desktop, directions in help thread below in signature. This will set MTU to 1500:)

In Optimizer select connection type at top, select adapter, select custom settings, enter 1 at a time 51100 or 64240, uncheck scaling under Tcp1323Opts, apply changes and REBOOT each time you change number in Optimizer, the following numbers scaling IS checked, try besides the ones thats in now: 548960, 578160, 584000
