I have to have the Automatic Configuration Script unchecked with nothing added on the address line. After a period of time surfing 5-20minutes I lose my connection. When I go back in to see setting the box is checked with an IP in the line (ping return # according to AT&T). I have to clear the line, uncheck the box, and restart the computer to get back on-line again.
AT&T had no advise and suggested I call Microsoft.
I'm running XP home edition
Any way that I can keep the auto config script under LAN settings from changing automatically?

Have you installed your ISPs software? Their custom broswers can do weird things. Outside of that I have no idea.

Usually a proxy address is inputted into the script line. Call AT&T and ask if they have one to input. Try checking of detect automatically. I can't really think of anything else except for editing the registry to stop the program from automatically doing something.
