Is it possable to run NTFS on one partition and FAT32 on another? This is windows XP.
I'm trying to back up a NTFS partition to another NTFS partition, using Drive Image 5.0. When I try to use the Image Explorer, I get A 1810 error. I think it's because the image is on a NTFS partition. If I can create a Fat32 partition along side a NTFS, To save my backups to, I think that will solve the problem. Can it be done?

i'm no expert on this stuff , but i had my c-drive as fat 32 and all my other partitions as ntfs for a while. just did a reformat last weekend and made them all ntfs.

it seemed a little unstable when i had c-drive as fat32

You can have Fat, Fat32 and Ntfs on different partitions on the same computer. Unless you have a real good reason to do it your better off with NTFS. I use 1 10 Gig partition with Fat32 in a 2 disk Raid 0 for video editing because it is a bit faster than Ntfs but other than that all my other partitions are ntfs.

OK, I'm going to give it a try. Has any one experienced this problem while using drive Image?

Never used Drive Image before but I just installed software called System Commander 7 by vComm. I run 98Se, Me, & XP (XP in NTFS format) and everything works fine.
XP NTFS format can recognize and use Fat16 & Fat32 partitions but not vice-versa (if you didn't know that already). OS in Fat32 won't even see an NTFS partition from what I noticed. But I haven't had any problems or conflicts especially with this vComm software ($60 US).
If you have no use for Fat32 partitions then stick with NTFS (for stablility) especially with XP, I've only heard great stories about all apps and Hardware that DO support XP.
I do triple boot for various reasons; plan to install Linux soon on same PC. Oh, did I mention that Sys Comm 7 supports up to 32 OS's on same PC!?

I never had a problem with NTFS and v 5.0. Check powerquests website, www.powerquest.com, they have a good support section.

There's also a 5.0 ==> 5.01 patch you can download.

That solved the problem. I Converted the partition were, I saved the Image, to fat32 and I can now access with the image explorer.
