Can u make ur Fixed wireless connection better?

I have sprint broadband direct its a fixed wireless connection. Is there anyway to make it faster. I play a game called infantry and it is a 16bit GAME. I sometimes get ping latency of up to 500MS and get spiked about once every 3min. If i try a game like Counter Strike i cant even connect on to a server. For downloading or searching on the web it is fast. Is their anyway to speed it up or does my ISP just SUCK FOR ONLINE GAMING.
