Hey everyone

I took the cheap route and bought 100 generic CDR's for 49.99 Canadian. They worked great on all players, and I was happy for awhile. Now I see that its the durability you pay for, cause a lot of them have either become really scratched or the coating has actually peeled away in spots, leaving see-through holes.

Now is this directly related to quality? Do the more expensive ones have more or a better coating on them than the cheap ones? If so, I will splurge in the future - you get what you pay for!

This might not be the answer to your question, but I've found that the cheaper CD's work fine for data and home audio, but they have about a 50% failure rate in my car stereo. I keep my eye on Best Buy and Office Max adds and pick up the Imation brand for little or nothing w/rebate and they work super.

Don't get me wrong, none of them were bad, they're just not very durable. I'll never buy Sony's again - they make their CDR's a certain way that only plays in some CD players. My buddy's Technics CD player won't touch em..............

I was just wondering if anyone knew the cheaper ones were cheaper because there's less, or worse quality, coating on them.........
