The FS105 is a switch, not a router. As far as their routers go I would consider the FR314, which is a replacement fort he RT314 with a firewall feature set.

I have the RT-314 and am running four machines off of it, one with XP Pro andd the others with 98, the XP machine also runs Linux and they all work sweet. Id go with the equivilent that Netgear offers now
will the FR314 alow me to share files on my pcs?

I just want to put my 2 cents in for a Netgear RP114. I am using this router on the computers listed in my sig. It has been working wonderfully for me. Great router that many people use here at SG.

Yes.
i think i'm gonna give the RP114 a go...i really don't need 8 ports (not anytime soon anyway) and cost is an issue as the RP114 will probably be cheaper!:D
Good move, mvern2. It's a good little router and it'll treat you well.
lol...thanks!! I hope i have better luck with the RP114 than i did with the Linksys BEFSR41!
You will. My RT314 has treated me well for over a year with not one hitch, glitch or fault.
its gonna be a week or 2 b4 i get it since no one in my city sells netgear products...but i'll keep u posted and tell u how everything goes!! Thanks again SilverDakota!!
mvern2: You can get any thing you want ? why not get the fastest router out there ?the Nexland SOHO for $159. just a little more than the Netgear.

The RT-314 work great for me, with no problems. I got it at 69.99 CDN$. This was at future shop. They have an on-line deal right now. Check it out.

I have a RO318, it has worked perferectly it has the build in firewall and I cant be seen from the outside world. It has 8 port and has gone down in price at my compusa. If you are thinking of expanding any more this is the best router for a house.
