my pc (below) now uses a cable modem. My friend (at 2 locations) uses two different configurations:
location 1:
AMD Athlon 1GHz--------Hub
Pentium MMX 200-------Hub
External ADSL modem--Hub (he has 2 ips)
location 2:
AMD XP 1700+-----------Switch
Pentium 2 350MHz------Switch
\
Internal ADSL modem-------Phone line
We can both make a speedy WAN with the 1000 at location 1, but the other location 2 has a problem. Using ics, we can't seem to WAN. At location 2, he can get into my pc and printers fine, but i can't hack him. If for example the P2 350 is called "Pentium" while the XP is called "AMD", i typed this into the windows lmhosts file to enable WAN (fake ip address):
11.11.11.11 Pentium
When i run //pentium, it doesn't work; "cannot fine the computer specified"
When he does the same thing with "133", he gets a window with drives c, d, etc. and printers "Laserjet", "Deskjet", "officejet", etc. Any network gurus know how to fix it?
