I know this does not make sense, but is it possible the ISB soho actually sped up my connection?
I dont see how that is possible, but I did tests with pings to different sites with and without router and I was getting faster response time when connected to the router. I also noticed my web surfing just seemed overall faster and smoother.
Maybe it is all in my mind..I dont know..but I am happy either way.
Highly recommend this product..it came to a total of $172 with fedex 2 day shipping, but worth every penny.

You can't improve ping time by adding another hard ware device in to the connection. Though it would not slow you down either. Probably just coincidence.

Possibly better classified as you did,, smoother; and possibly more consistent. That is possible.
But as Bob points out Ping time shouldn't be reduced by introducing a router but it is possible that it is more stable. This would be dependent on the previous device you used or software and how well it worked with your PC configuration/setup.
I guess the nice thing with a "good" router is it handles the interconnection of your LAN to the WAN as transparently as possible.
But as far as you saying your connection seems smoother; I agree with you I feel the same way with my Pro400.
The main point is you are happy,, and really that is what matters!
