I think you should save your money and use a search engine when you get stuck or need advise.

i agree w/ funk, i'm takin an entry level java course right now, and let me tell you it isn't bad at all.. this, btw, is my first language.

Just download the latest version of JDK from Sun. Then hit the trails at:

http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/reallybigindex.html

Try out the code samples. Make small changes to the code and experiment with the different results and understand how the code works. Don't feel intimidated. This ain't rocket science. All you need is hard work and diligence.
