Ok, a couple months ago I started getting the following error message when I booted. "Invalid VxD dynamic link call to device #3 Service B your window configuration is invalid."
I went to the Microsoft help site, got their fix and used it.
However, I still get the message regularly but not in a manner where I can pinpoint any particular item causing it. Sometimes it will boot fine, sometimes I'll get the error. My system.ini file is NOT blank.
What causes this error?? I've never run into it until a few months ago and now it happens frequently.
There have been NO hardware changes. The ONLY software changes have been the installation of a game, Everquest with the expansions of Kunark and Velious and perhaps the installation of Direct X 8.1
I've replaced my hard-drive (it was 4+ years old) thinking maybe it was no longer reliably saving info.
I've done multiple reformats of the hd and clean window's 98 installs and still run into the problem.
My system is comprised of a Asus A7V mobo; t-bird 900 mhz 448meg ram; ATi Radeon 32 DDR; Soundblaster 16pci; Maxtor 20 gig HD.
I've installed the latest Via 4in1 drivers as well as the latest video and sound card drivers.
Could it be heat related?? My CPU is running at about 44 C. I didn't think that was hot but maybe it is?
HELP ME!!!
