View Full Version : Counter-Strike and Starcraft
I am using a Linksys Cable/DSL the wireless 4 port one, and running road runner cable modem service. I play CS, Starcraft, Wolfenstein(the new one) and Diablo 2 as my main online games. It turns out Diablo 2 never lags, Wolfenstein only sometimes does, and CS and Starcraft lag after every few minutes and does that the whole time in CS I usually get kicked and Starcraft everyone gets mad. When its not flushing its packets(lagging or watever its doing) its just all fast and everything then its like flushing packets or some crap(is wat it says its doin in CS), it like I dont know its like I'm not playing ont he server for those few seconds every few minutes it does that then I go right back and like Counter-Strike I'm playing, it does the flush packets or whatever its doing(it says its flushing packets, lagging or somthin I guess) I'm killin and then BOOM I'm froze and I get back and I'm dead lol. Computer doesn't freeze I can still move my camera thing around just like its lag for around 3-6 seconds each time.
Welcome to SpeedGuide.net...
Does this occur when not using the router?
Not that I know of. Also, when I ping somthin and put the -t on for it to keep going, every minute or so the ping times out.
Conduct a few tracerts to sites and game servers and post the results here.
Hmm, well I'm sorry but I'm not familier with that, tracerts to sites and games?
Sorry, I assumed you were b/c you were familiar with the ping command and -t swtich.:)
Using traceroute & ping
Open the Run box (Start | Run... or Windows Key + R), type cmd (Windows 2K/XP) or command (Windows 95/98/ME) and hit ENTER to open a command prompt.
Syntax
Type ping or tracert followed by an IP or domain.
Example: ping www.yahoo.com or tracert www.yahoo.com
To specifiy the number of echo requests to send, use the -n switch followed by a number:
Example: ping www.yahoo.com -n 10
This would result in ten echo requests being sent to yahoo.com.
To output to a text file for easy copying/pasting, use > followed by a path and file name.
Example: tracert www.yahoo.com >c:/trace.txt or ping www.yahoo.com -n 10 >c:/ping.txt
This would result in the tracert to yahoo.com being saved as trace.txt on drive C and the 10 echo requests to yahoo.com being saved as ping.txt on drive C.
