Hello,
Well, just yesterday my friend got a new moniter. So he gave me his old one(which was bigger and better then mine) but he had no drivers for it anymore he had lost the CD. So, As hard as I tried to find drivers I couldnt. I gave up and just went over and copied a few INF files and such but the problem still re-maned the same. The screen can only go to 1 size 1024x769. Well, Normally this would be fun but I play a few ganes that have to run at 800x600 and some other programs. I cannot make the screen size bigger or smaller and there is only 16bit and 32bit high. Any ideas? Any help at will be greatly appreciated. After all this is the best place to turn for any type of tech support.

Drivers aren't needed, as windows should have a generic INF and be able to detect supported resolutions. Delete any INF files you installed and install one of the generic INFs (Plug n Play & Default Monitor in Win2K) via the Device Manager.

Ya, thats what I originally had going. I am on XP had Plug and Play regular drivers wouldn't let me switch res's there either
Make sure your previous monitor's INF is deleted too.
What brand/model is the monitor?

I went into Windows/INF and deleted all the "Moniter" files. Well, The moniter he gave me is a Acer/77is. Any other ideas besides deleting the files in the Windows/INF folder? Also, I tried to go back to the "Plug and Play Moniter" with the update drive wouldnt show up on the list only had a non Windows XP Acer 77is driver.

Check Acer's web site for the proper INF.

Did that too. The moniter is about 2-3years old. They didnt have the INF anymore. Forgot to say no thats the INF thats on the manufacter list thing when you choose your own.

Give Acer tech support a call, many times compaines use one generic driver to support all their products ask which one they recommend?

Yea, Did that. Same run-around as with most tech-support. I lucky found their drivers on Driverguide.com. I was looking at the INF file and say that it stated that 1280x1042 was the maxx res for the moniter. This is the only Resolution I can use. Any ideas? Maybe go in the reg edit make a few changes? I know where it would be in there just dont know what I should change/add.
It sounds like more of a video card problem. try reinstall the video card, that what set the resolution not the monitor.
