number of downloads

Am running XP on attbi cable.
I can only download 2 files at a time since I went to XP as with Win98 I could download at least 4 at a time.
Am I missing something simple here and is there a fix for this?

I'm not sure about this, but I think the "SpeedGuide_2k Web Patch" (http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/cable_patches.shtml) will solve this. Just backup your registry before applying it or any other manual tweaks/patches.

The patch will allow for more downloads. If want to edit the registry yourself here are the Keys:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:00000020 (32)
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=dword:00000040 (64)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:00000020 (32)
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=dword:00000040 (64)

The Patch sets all keys to dword:00000020 (32) but most people get better results setting MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server to dword:00000040 (64).
