I have been running ameritech dsl for a few years. I have had the 768/128 service for 39.95. About a year ago or longer they raised rates to 49.95 for this service. I stayed at 39.95. no complaints from me.
I have been looking into upgrading speeds. I spoke with some ameritech team data reps. They had a few options buisness dsl 1.5/256 up for $180 a month. I asked what they had for home use. They have the same for 79.95but with out all the router,5 static IP's,etc... I still felt that was a little steep. I held out for a few months and sent a email asking about a more affordable home 1.5 speed . They replied with a phone # to call.
Ameritech had a special for 1.5/256 up for 59.95 .
I was comfotable with that so I ordered it up.
Well it now seems my service was upgraded but my download is still at 768.
My upload speed test are right at 250 or so.
I called and they said my lines seem great and that the reconfigured the DSLAM but my REDBOX was still capping my speeds.
Can someone enlighten me on this info.

Thanks bowtye

Redbox or redback? Redback is a type of server (also the name of the company). I believe redbacks are used to facilitate authorization on PPPoE DSL networks. I know PacBell/SBS and Mindsprint/Earthlink use them and it sounds as if your telco does as well. Anyway, it sounds as if your cap has been increased to 1.5mbps, but your account info has yet to be updated to reflect the change.
