I recently purchased a 2Wire HomePortal 100 Gateway, hoping to network my home computers using HPNA over the phone lines.
After hours on the phone with 2Wire tech support, it was determined that their HomePortal 100 Gateway is not compatible with AOL DSL. 2Wire is using PPPoE for it's connection. Unfortunately, it appears that AOL is using some proprietary means of authenticating their DSL subscribers.
Pardon my ignorance, but is this another reason why AOL gets the nickname "AOHell".
Any solutions out there
