I know you just want to make a working backup of a legally purchased cd just like the rest of us.;)
The answer is yes and no. It depends on the software, hardware and the type of write potection being used.
Most popular programs are CloneCd, Cdrwin and Nero. HERE (http://www.cdrinfo.com/) is a link to a good site.

Yes with the right software you can rip pretty much anything:D
search google and you'll find what you need. A few of the...er less mainstream programs may be hard to find though.;)

Heh...I burned a backup copy of the new Tool CD for a friend. They couldn't burn it on their computer. My NEC DVD-ROM read it just fine and my burner just loved it.

If you're using 98, you can try the CDFS.VXD replacement file. Try this link (http://www.maz-sound.com/cd-rippers.html) for that and more.
