Add Remove Programs\Windows Set Up Tab/ Multimedia.

You can remove windows components there.

i think you might have a problem with trying to remove the version that came with your OS, i tried to do something similar with internet explorer and i could not remove it, even after numerous speedguide posts
but that is internet explorer and media player may work differently

Hey,Jack. We meet again. LOL

Go to the M$ Update site and you know the download selection area??? After they check out what you need you can select to view what you have already installed. In a lot of cases there is an option to uninstall given. Scroll the page to Media Player.
Hope it helps.

No Croc I dont see that, I even used Cleansweep to try to uninstall it, but I get an error saying mplayer2.exe is a protected file. Its really irritating if I rename the mplayer2 file it will rename it and 4 seconds later "mplayer2" comes back.

Why do I want to delete win media player?

this is why, my foolish cousin downloaded a porno movie and in media player when I right click on it and go to Open URL that movie still appears there along with others. So mostly im trying to get rid of Media Player's URL history, so that would be easier than trying to uninstall it. So does anyone know how to delete the history?

And croc sorry about yesterday;)

HEY I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I downloded this A+ Prg called HistoryKill from www.historykill.com this thing was a life saver and is an excellent PROG!!!!!!

Hey, Jack... Got one thing for ya.....http://63.217.30.71/images/icons/icon14.gif

It's cool. A little bit if that don't hurt. At least you had the guts to say you were a bit wrong. For that you earn a pat on the back. Can you feel it?

Good to see the problem with the movie is sorted.

Another reason to ditch WMP is that MS just announced that they have been collecting the names and other details of all media you have ever played using that app. Of course they say they don' t intend to do anything with the info but if that were true, why gather the data in the first place?

I believe this is in version 8 only.
