I'm in the process of the "next upgrade" - and I went to reformat my drives (now onboard RAID) - and the only file system option I had was NTFS - what happened to FAT32? That's how I had it set up before.
Any Ideas ???
WinXPHome
i swear when i went to install my new PC with XP and a raid-0 i was only offered an option for NTFS , everyone called me crazy but i know there was no option for FAT 32.
That is weird .. I have setup XP on my onboard RAID using RAID-0 and FAT32.
Maybe just format with a win98SE boot disk and when you go to install XP just tell it leave the file system alone.

I just noticed, both of you have XP Home edition. I wonder if Home edition has issue with RAID setups?
But than again Claude_Ballz you said you had it setup on RAID with FAT 32 .. odd, very odd. You orginally setup using the Home edition b4?

Yep, I had it set up RAID0 before... the only diff. now is that the RAID is on the mobo ... but it's still a Promise controller.
And I tried Partitioning and formatting w/ a 98 disk ... when I loaded xp, it did ask if I wanted to leave the partition like it is, and it installed, and is FAT32, EXCEPT, now everytime I boot, I get the "which operating system do you want to start" screen ... and I don't have 98 installed. If you click it, it just goes to a C:\. I know that isn't a big thing, but it wasn't doing that before.
2 options,
Edit your boot ini and remove the line were it says previous operating system or what ever the 2nd choice is.
OR
right click my computer/ properties/ advanced/ starup & recovery settings button. Click the edit button and it will open your boot.ini, again remove the line stating the other operating system. Then your boot.ini should look something like this
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Thanx Murman! That did it. I had even installed Partition Manager to check the partition.
That really threw me for a loop. The first time I installed XP it gave me the option to do FAT32. And the hard drives weren't new, in fact I had formatted 'em under '98, but I still didn't get the "which OS" prompt. Very Strange. Anyway, I'm almost back in Bizniss :D
Thanx Again!
good good .. rock on!
post some bench screen shots with yuor new setup
