Stupid question... How do I get rid of Windows Messenger in Win XP pro? I at least want to get it out of the task bar.
Right click and select exit and it will go away. To keep it from pre-loading, with Messenger up, select tools/options/preferences and then unclick the run when Windows starts checkbox.
Copy this in the run command line then press enter, say byebye to msn messenger.
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

This little app called XP Antispy (http://www.xp-antispy.de) will remove it along with other "phone home" MS things.:) :D
