i have tried to record audio using two programs: goldwave and sound recorder. Upon the click on the record button, i lose control of the pc (in other words freezing up) until the wav finishes recording (if i create a 60s file in goldwave, it uncontrollably records until 1min has passed, then it defrosts). However, i'm sure this has nothing to do with the 120MHz chip in my mb. Just a month ago i recorded a 2min cd quality audio file from TV without any problems. Now i get this freezeup for no particular reason. Anybody know what's going on? Since my last recording i have done the following:
-set a permanent 64MB swap file
-uninstall psp, reinstall psp
-install fireworks
-use word 97 dozens of times
-reinstalled some MCI devices, mainly activemovie because it gave media player (not windows media player, but mplayer.exe in c:\windows) illegal operations, and the motion video device was screwed
-used flash dozens of times
etc...
I can still playback all audio and multimedia fine.
