save picture as...in XP

everytime i use the right click..then save picture as...it only gives me the choice to save the picture as a .bmp and always has untitled as a the file name...regardless of whether its a gif or jpg...

anyone know why this is happening??

I just did a test with a banner on this page and I right clicked and selected "Save Picture As" and my only choice was .bmp also. What I usually do and I just did this as a test was i renamed that banner and adding .jpg on the end and it saved it as a .jpg file. I'm sure you can do this with any file extension.

I'm not sure if this is what you were asking about but I hope this works for you.

no - when i right click the speedguide banner at the top of this page and do "save picture as" it saves it as a gif. i run wXP pro and save all kinds of pictures. it saves them as .jpg, .gif, ect. i don't know much about this stuff but i think you got a problem. i have 3 puters at work running XP alsoand they don't do that either.

not sure if this will help you or not, but it will show you it is a problem at times with IE.
