max "save target as" - how to increase?

I am currently using windows 2000 SP2. When i want to download multiple files from a web site, i can only start 2 concurrent download sessions. How can this max be increased?
FYI: this action is right click on a link & select "save target as". If i start 3 or more of these, they all suspend until one of the 1st two completes.

well, i do believe that i have done some tweak a while back. i am currently using comcast network. I think that the only thing i changed was maxmtu but not sure. Can you advise me what tweak i should use? & will this correct the stall of the downloads after 2 have been started? What OS do you use? Do you see this symptom?

If you download Optimizer I think that will solve your problem:



Download SG Optimizer to your desktop, select connection type at top, select optimal settings at bottom, Select adapter you are using, click on apply changes at very bottom,and REBOOT .
If you wish to enter custom TCP recieve window select custom settings at bottom, enter what you wish, click on apply changes at bottom and REBOOT.
If using Cablenuts adjuster too, you must first bring up adjuster, click on delete Cablenut Tweaks at bottom and reboot, then download and install optimizer.

Even though it is not the nearest the Dallas test is pretty quick


BEFORE SPEEDTEST

1. At top of IE, click on Tools, internet options, click on delete files and click on offline files (It's safe), click on clear history, yes
2.) Go to Start button, programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup, Click OK (Safe)
3.) Run scandisk (Short version)
4.) Scandisk on XP?
Click on My Computer, select Drive that XP is on, RIGHT click on BLANK place, select properties, then tools at top tab, click check now, check box automattically fix system errors, click start,
then test. Turn all running programs off. Reboot computer so you have all your RAM

thanks for your help on this. i will finish up the current downloads. i have already downloaded the optimizer & ran it. I will report after my reboot.

UPDATE AFTER applying optimize & rebooting, now i can download unlimited number of save target as - at the same time.

i will test speed shortly but... THANKS FOR YOR HELP!
