I'm sorry if I'm not in the correct place......kinda new to this forum stuff... :o) ..I ahve a satellite connection ...running on win2k....actually both puters same O.S. ..but 2Nd puter no gets full juice...was told i could tweek registry to allow it more...is it possible.?

HalfLifer

You said its got no juice....what do you mean?

Its alot slower than the other? Are the NIC cards the same? Post your results from the analyzer on both comps and let's get started :)

My actuall problem is the fact that the 2nd puter never gets more than 10% of the total available download bandwith....this puter is smokin...i can do like 2000kbs on a good morning...then go over to 2nd puter and barely hit 125kbs....with main puter totaly neutral nothing up or down....

I have the 2-way from Hughes Networks...."Direcpc" ..... I download and upload thru the satelite dish....[or the trash can lid]
as I call it..!!..LOL ...seems like they got some way to LIMIT the uploads...."example".......I can have three files uploding @ 10 kbs
but NEVER any one file faster than 3kbs....seeems like some kinda CAP on the amout of B-width per file or request...Hmmmm
they always wanna SLOW us down..!! Any Ideas..?? You did good so far ..! Thank You..!! ... :) :) ..

You lost me now......it did what i wanted it to do and that was take the limits of of any one file.....now i can upload at around 10 to 12 with one file instead of just 3 or 4 like b-4 ...it does DRAIN away the resorces from 2nd puter and my pages load slower ..but that is to be expected...i did not think it would give MORE band width ....just take that limits off any one transfer...and that has seemed to have worked....but I'm all ears for your advice...THNX

How fast is the second computer? It was a NIC buffer tweak for 500mhz and 128MB Ram +. Normal tweaks dont affect system performance in any way however. If its acting up, I'd uninstall it.

03-14-02, 07:42 AM
Hello "HalfLifer"...........just a note to let ya know......as i used the puter more I noticed that althought one single file DID actually go faster up ....it seemed to MASIVELY drain away the B-with to the point that at 'peek' times it would not load a page..[off peek seemed ok].....so I uninstalled the program you sent URL for,,,all seems to have gone back to normal now....with that program installed it also seemed that it would BURST realy quick @ first then gradeully taper off...so ...i am back to the origional tweek we preformed...I will do another anylizer and post results ..

One of their first thing you learn about speed patches is they do not go on top of each other, our patch, put in TcpMaxDupAcks where as the one you installed afterwards did not, so you had our setting of TcpMacDupAcks with other patch, if I were you I would download the New Optimizer to your desktop, and enter a custom Tcp Recieve Window of 405880, 417560, 420480 and see how that works, if not good, go back to optimal settings which will enter same RWIN 256960 as you have now:

Download SG Optimizer to your desktop, select connection type at top, select custom settings in middle, Select adapter you are using, click on apply changes at very bottom, and REBOOT .
If you wish to enter custom TCP recieve window select custom settings at bottom, enter what you wish, click on apply changes at bottom and REBOOT.
If using Cablenuts adjuster too, you must first bring up adjuster, click on delete Cablenut Tweaks at bottom and reboot, then download and install optimizer.

Optimizer in my signature

Do your speed tests here after you turn off all running programs http://www.speakeasy.net/main.php?page=sup_pops , select site nearest to you, turn everything off thats running, Check Taskbar, 1 browser, clear cache, If you are from over seas select from here: http://www.testmyspeed.com/internationalspeedtests.htm

Even though it is not the nearest the Dallas test is pretty quick

BEFORE SPEEDTEST

1. At top of IE, click on Tools, internet options, click on delete files and click on offline files (It's safe), click on clear history, yes
2.) Go to Start button, programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup, Click OK (Safe)
3.) Run scandisk (Short version)
4.) Scandisk on XP?
Click on My Computer, select Drive that XP is on, RIGHT click on BLANK place, select properties, then tools at top tab, click check now, check box automattically fix system errors, click start,
then test. Turn all running programs off. Reboot computer so you have all your RAM
