As you all might know me already..ive been on the board a lot recently asking for help on some of my networking projects

Pro #1 Domain controller with DNS
Pro #2 DNS made public

Ok..ive been doing some hosting lately, but only subdomains... like http://nat.mine.nu:81/USERNAME

which sucks

now that i have DNS...someone told me i am able to host domain names..but i dont own one..so i cant really do it...... Can someone on this board with a spare domain to play with help me test this out?

i know this is a far fetched request..but ive made bigger ones before...in return for this i guess ill host ur domain for free if that helps you out @ all..i mean my t1 over here is pretty lonely...dont have much to host...

While I know you mean well, and it seems you are trying to help, but you may start causing problems by making your DNS IP public. Read this article about alternate roots. I'm not certain of this, but I think if you don't register your server has a domain host, with your ISP (something about a pointer record on their server) than any pages hosted by your server won't get resolved properly or if you have any mail servers then things will get really screwed up. I wish I could give you some better answers but I'm just starting to get into all of this DNS stuff myself.
