i have a Laptop that i use at work that's a member of a MS Domain.

also, i have a network at home with internet access via DSL.

here's the problem, when i bring the Laptop home and connect it to my network, the Laptop's polling for the Work Domain interferes with internet access. the Laptop will start polling for the Domain and IE won't run or delays until polling stops, usually 10-15 seconds. :(

anyone know how to either disable this Domain search while at home or change the frequency of polling.

thanks...

Can't you just log on locally to the pc? choose local logon, (you'll need a local account set up on the pc) then it won't look for a domain controller.

thanks...

yes i can, but i want to use the Desktop that i have at work and not have to maintain two desktops. when i log on at home i essentially log on locally or at least my authentication is local.
