Thnx for readin..
hope someone can help me...
I have a 2 pcs networked and connected to a Linksys 4 port router connected to my cable modem.
my pc is p4 1.5 ghz and the other is p3 1 ghz. My problem is that my pc's connection speed (d/l speed) is abt 50% slower than the other. If i were to download a 20mb file usin my pc the speed is abt 250-300 Kb/sec, where as the other can d/l at 450-600 kb/sec. The router claims to have a built in switch. So i thought the speed is suppose to be equal for both pcs. Can anyone help me solve this prob???
thnx in advance.

First off, very very nice speeds. Personally, I wouldn't complain, cause I get 150kb/s max :p .
On the 2nd PC, go here:
http://forums.speedguide.net:8117
Copy and paste the results into a reply.
A switch looks a packet, and directs it to the correct computer, it dosen't equal out the speeds.

These are the results. I did use the TCPoptimiser from this site to tweak the settings on my pc. and the settings on the other pc is left as defult. I'm only complaining abt my speeds is cuz, u know, when u see the other pc doin better, u get jealoused and wanna have the same speed or better. hahaha =o)
TCP options string = 020405b401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2621.4 kbps (327.675 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1048.56 kbps (131.07 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 56 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

You could try boosting your RcvWindow.
I have try most all the program for tweaking my modem this is the best program I have found.
http://www.broadbandwizard.net/
it is free to download and try for 15 days.
Try it and let me know what you think. it work for me
This is a cool test link
