View Full Version : Zonealarm 3.0? No don't like it!!
After installing the upgrade and using it for a few days, I couldn't get into a few sites including officepools.com. Other sites would just be a full page of script!! No matter what settings I tried, nothing would work. So its back to the older version for me! Now its all good. I think they got some work to do on it yet.

hmm I havet had any problems like that.
Have you checked to make sure your privacy settings are set ok?
You can find a 130 page manual on zonealarm site..it might help you out.
I also have the new 3.0 and have (also) not had those problems. Officepool.com loads just fine here. Could be, as davy19 suggests, that it's something with your privacy settings. One thing about this new version, is that it offers a ton more options and controls that could potentially cause problems on some sites.
Sometimes if we tweak our security settings too tight, some websites just choke as they want some kind of feedback (cookies, etc) and if we don't let them do that, the site doesn't load properly. A forum I was on doesn't like high security settings with IE6 and won't let you logon until you let them send a cookie they can look at.
Yes. The new Zone Alarm has a lot of (good) new features that let you tailor individual sites and privacy settings for cookies and advertisements. You have to fiddle with it a little at first, but, it works well for most sites as long as you don't restrict everything.
You can also set the "Privacy" on or off for each specific browser.
so you chose the upgrade over a clean install? I've read a bunch of articles and even ZA themselves suggests a clean install. That is what I did and haven't had any issues.
O.k. Tried the 'clean install' and it seems to work fine now. I retract my previous statement. What can I say? I goofed! :D
Good to hear you got it working okay.
yeah thats good to hear. :)

The only thing that still bothers me about ZA Pro3.0 is that opens a random listening port TCP 1025, I dont know why, and still waiting for an answer from their tech support.
There is a thread in the Computer Security (this forum) where you can post Zone Alarm questions. It will be visited soon by a Zone Labs representative. Maybe you should ask it there.

I played with it for several days and it wouldnt let me view any of my speed tests and several other sites...After fiddling with the settings I finally said Piss on this and wiped it off the comp...Back to ZAPro and happy with that...Im 99% sure it was something I missed in the settings but ive not got the patience to fiddle with it..

Zone Alarm 3.0 was causing me some problems. Doing a clean install is best. I transfered my old settings from ZAPRO and many of my sites would not load properly. After doing a clean install I've had no problems.
If you want speed tests to work with ZA you have to allow the site access by configuring ZA to accept the IP. This is supposed to be a simple process. Otherwise it is going to do what it's supposed to do and block.
Most of the issues with ZA can be overcome with a visit to the FAQ's at ZoneLabs and the use of their searchbar.
