Hi all,

I hope someone might be able to help me here. I know all about the tweak guides and the reg hacks on speedguide website, however, i am weary to use them on our server.

I look after a W2K compaq server which is connected via a hub to 6 workstations. The server is connected to a BT ADSL router on a 2mg connection.

Can i use some of the tweaks from the win2k page on the server to optimize the TCP settings or is that a big no no?

Many thanks for your help

There shouldn't be a reason why you cannot. If you find performence to be undesirable after the patch, there are default patches on this site that will reset the TCP/IP settings to default.

I've tried the patches on three servers and they seem to work. Back up your registry first, if connectivity goes down then you can restore the registry. I don't know if the default patch would apply to Win2K servers.

Thanks for all your help and advice guys. I'll try the patches after backing the registry and let you know after some testing of the outcome.
