Hello All,

Again I am having some more problems with the RAS service on a NT 4.0 SBS server. A while back it was not working at all. I tried reinstalling the service, upgrading to RRAS and many other things but eventually I just reformatted the drive on the server and reloaded the OS. Now RAS works, somewhat. I can connect to the server, DHCP from the server assigns me an IP address, I can use Exchange, and I can browse files on the server itself. I cannot access any other device than the server itself though, meaning no Internet and no browsing of other workstations on the network. I DO have RAS set up to allow clients connecting via TCP/IP to connect to the whole network. What could possible be stopping me from browsing outside the server??

Thanks in advance.

It's like an echo today....:D What are your DHCP scope options? Do you have a gateway IP (router) on your NT network?

In DHCP I have the router, DNS servers, WINS servers, WINS node type all configured to our correct parameters. The reason I believe DHCP is working is because I can connect to the network just fine using DHCP, its only dial in that doesn't work. Also, its not just the Internet I can't get to, it's every other computer on the whole network.

Well I fixed my problem so I thought I would update everyone in case this ever happened to them. Originally when I reformatted the hard drive on our server, the only networking protocol I had installed was TCP/IP. We ran with that for a couple of days and everything worked fine. We have some dial up clients that need to be able to access a Novell server so I then installed IPX/SPX and NWLink protocols. When I installed these for some reason or another it disabled IP routing for TCP/IP even though I had answered yes when it asked me if I wanted to enable NetBIOS broadcast propagation. Anyway, all I did was enable IP forwarding and everything is work fine again.

Thanks to those who tried to help.
