XP and netbeui

Best I can tell Xp does not support netbeui . True or False?
File Printer sharing thru tcp/ip. Security reasons I dont like.
Before I had 2 pc's w/ OS 98 my tcp/ip did no binding with file and printer sharing only netbeui did.
Know I have 1 pc OS 98 and the other XP.

On pc w/ XP I install tcp/ip and netbbeui.
tcp/ip iin properties I can enabel and disabel binding for file and printer sharing, but netbeui "properties" does not show I can do any changes!!!??

Is no problem sharing cabel connection and file printer sharing thru tcp/ip in both pc's.But I dont like.
I was reading XP does not support netbeui. How can in this case make a more secure connection for printer and file sharing ??

On your Windows XP CD, navigate to \Valueadd\Msft\Net\Netbeui directory and follow the directions in the Netbeui.txt file or read them here.

NetBEUI (NBF) is a non-routable protocol suitable for small networks. Support for this protocol in Microsoft Windows has been discontinued. If you are instructed by the Product Support Personnel to install this protocol as a temporary measure, follow the instructions below.

Installation instructions for NetBEUI protocol on Windows XP and Windows 2002.
Copy nbf.sys into the %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ directory
Copy netnbf.inf into the %SYSTEMROOT%\INF\ directory
Open network connection properties and use "Install..." button to add NetBEUI protocol

You also want to make sure that you unbind File/Print Sharing to TCP/IP. I'm at work so this is from memory and may not be entirely accurate as to doing this, but open up Network Connections so you have the Explorer view. I believe it's Tools | Advanced Settings from the drop down menu up top and you can uncheck TCP/IP from File/Print Sharing.
