I have WinXP Pro, Linksys Router (BEFSR41) and Zone Alarm Pro on my Adelphia cable (SB3100). My internet connect seems to be working ok. ZA keeps freaking out at some connection between the router and the modem, or some combo between XP and the router and/or cable modem. WTF? Things are working, should I mess with it? Also, I don't know much about how to set up the router other then what the manual said....and even then it only took 3 mins to get my system online, heh.

Which is why I prefer just the hardware firewall of a routers NAT, I don't like software firewalls.

Did you have ZA configured before, when your machine was perhaps standalone on the broadband? I'm guessing it needs reconfiguring.

Funny sig BTW.

i know the problem has to do with the introduction of the router. never saw this error before. i'm just not sure how to let ZA Pro know that the router is there. also, i have a Win98 system on the same router and i can't them to see each other no matter what, but that is another problem. heh.

but like i said, everything works fine. dl speeds to both systems are pretty high, it's just the stupid ZA error telling me about 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.100.1, etc. oh well.

ZA is probably, by what you're telling us, having problems with the new communications over the LAN. You need to tell ZA that your LAN is a 'trusted zone'. Something along these lines, with the appropriate IP's for your router:

Does each device and PC on the network have a unique name?

Do you have file and print sharing enabled?

Are the PC's in the same workgroup?
