I just downloaded it, and got the full version.

I really love the ad blocker, that is very impressive, but too early for me to tell how well it performs.

You can get the free trial off cnet.com

Yes! I had JUST bought the retail version of ZA2.6. This upgraded and my registration key worked. I have the full version :)
I really like ZA Pro.

I am truly impressed with it.

Some really great new features on top of the ad blocker and pop up killer.

One thing I really like is having the pop up killer without having to run a separate application on top of Zonealarm. Takes up less resources. It acutally works too not like some others I tried.

One other thing I like is performance seems to be better when surfing the net.

I am also curious how well it will stop spyware. Wonder if it would have prevented gator from loading 2 days ago that scrwed up my PC.

There are a lot of options and in fact the manual is 130 pages big.

Time will tell, but ZoneLabs has a good history so I'm confident with this new version. Looks good so far! I like the new GUI. Much more informative.

BTW,

One thing I noticed...when I have zonelarms running a random TCP port will be listening. The first time I ntoiced it was TCP 1025, then it was TCP 1189

Any idea what Zonealarm is listening to?

I dont remeber this in the previous versions.

I know it is defintiely zonealarm, because as soon as I boot up before ZA starts, I am in win98se, i run netstat -na and see nothing listed. Then ZA starts and I see it..if I shutdown ZA, that port closes.

It seems pretty good. Alot more options and shows exactly what is using the internet. I noticed my MSN even when it isn't open, it's just sitting in the tray closed cause I have my mail open tries to access the internet constantly. I don't have it on start up and disabled in the Outlook express. So how come it keeps trying to connect? Never noticed whether or not it did this with the last version but I don't think it did either that or it didn't show it. I'd like to find a way to stop the MSN from being such a pain, constantly filling the log already trying to access the internet. It's annoying me already.

Davy19: Don't know the answer to that one. Would have to put a sniffer out there to see what it's doing. I'm not worried about it though.

Suzie: MSN..You mean Messenger? If you're running XP then you need to run Anti-Spy. Outlook and MSN are sleeping partners and pretty hard to separate. By removing from startup, you mean you went into MSCONFIG and deleted it there right?

Well i sent an emailto zonelabs, i want to see what they have to say.

I am not worried in the sense I know I dont have a trojan, which was the first thing that came to mind...but really curious why it has a random open TCP port above 1024 open.

When I hear something I will let everyone know.

Sorry Davy19 didn't mean to highjack your thread. :)

Sorry yah, Messenger. Running win98se. Went to MSCONFIG and took out the checkmark for start up. It has always ran when I open my mailbox (messenger) but not signed in. What it does now since the ZA update, it is constantly trying to access the internet and never did that before.

ZA message says:

Description: Messenger requested to access the internet

Direction: Incoming (listen)

Type: New server program

Source DNS

I've been monitoring the log and it tries regulary to get on the internet?

Thanks:)
