My internet connection stopped working about 2 days ago. The only weird thing is that my instant messenger worked and my Outlook for e-mail. My IE 6 everytime came up with page cannot be displayed. I checked all of my network settings. I did a repair on IE6 and I reset my modem and router. Still no internet.

I call into RR Tech. Supp. and he tells me to turn off my Norton Personal Firewall. I do that, and then click home to go to www.yahoo.com and it loads up fine.

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and I was wondering what I need to do to fix it. I would like to keep my firewall up if at all possible.

I am intriqued why this started happening all of a sudden.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Which computer did it stop working on? I had a similar problem when I had two computers sharing through ICS, but never through the router.

Never did figure it out, just bought a router and stopped worrying about it.

windows XP has a built in fire wall you may need to disable it

yeah i would check to make sure your XP firewall isnt active. If it is already disabled or if you have the same issue once XP firewall is disabled then i would totally uninstall Norton, make sure you have every file deleted and then re-install it.

it's possible you may have a corrupt file. this happens to me from time to time with ZA Pro, although usually all i have to do is turn ZA Pro off and load everything then re-load ZA Pro and it goes away for several months.

let us know how it goes
