Just installed AVG after using InoculateIT for some time now.
I ran a scan and it found a virus in..... (drum roll)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\19991129.001\VIRSCAN.INF May be infected by unknown virus
:rotfl:
Could this be a false positive?
Housecall and InoculateIt never picked this up.
I would say it is a false positive. How would a definitions .INF be infected?

Well, it depends on how you look at it as many of us feel Norton/Symantec is a virus/trojan...
That should not be a virus, just virus definitions...

:D
Yeah, their uninstaller didn't do a good job of removing their program.
This was Norton AV 5.0 which I used back in '99.
AVG is pretty good. I may try out the one that Brent uses.

Heuristic analysis enabled and working. That's what it was supposed to do.... identify virus like activity on your system.
AVG was just doing it's job and deserves a pat. A false positive, no, not really. A definition would have to be close to the virus it is looking for.
