Can you connect a USB modem to a router (lets say the lynksis since thats the one ive seen)

There is one new model that does this. I don't know the maker.

The complication is that the router has to have drivers for each make and model of modem that it connects to.

You might consider getting an old, slow, PC and using ICS or some other proxying software.

The problem with routers that support WAN USB modems, is that since USB modems are software driven, and require CPU load, the router has to have drivers built into it to work with USB modems. With a PC, you plug in the USB modem, and install the drivers. Easy to do. With a router, you have a limited number of modems (I'm sure firmware upgrades will increase it's compatibility list) it works with.

There are lots of routers with LAN USB interfaces (USB NIC support to the PC's)....not to be confused with WAN USB interface (USB cable/DSL modem support).
