I remember reading about a windows file that you could input addresses of the popups so that somehow they wouldn't be displayed when viewing web pages.

Does anyone know what file this is?

Pop up add filter kills 'em all and it allows you to open links in new windows. Try it at www.meaya.com.

Try INTERNET EXPLORER! IT has restricted sites on it. All you have to do is go to that website right click the page go to PROPERTIES copy the URL then put it in your restricted sites under the SECURITY TAB!

Ex: tools|Internet Options|Security|RESTRICTED SITES|
ADD SITE
Then add: ads.musiccity.com (MORPHEUS/KAZZAS BANNERS)

With all the cool things about the web (like this website), there's an even greater amount of really lame things, like those popup advertisements from sites like GeoCities and Tripod. After a late night of closing those damn windows, I couldn't take it any more, and AnalogX POW! was born! A simple utility, just run POW! while browsing on the net, and when one of those nasty popups appears, POW! will automatically close it for you... It's that easy! And that's not all... You can configure POW! to close any new popups that you run across, so if it doesn't close them already, you can easily add/remove them at any time. This is an absolute must for anyone who spends any reasonable (or unreasonable) amount of time surfing the web.

Pop-up stopper doesn't limit you to just one window. All you have to do is hold down the shift or ctrl key while clicking a link to open a new window.

As far as I can tell it is the only one that requires the least user intervention.

Javascript pop-ups are a different problem, that seems to be is main drawback.

Try the Proxomitron. It is one of the better free web-filter proxies that are available on the net. I chain that along with junkbusters to selectively get rid of banner ads, javascript popups, cookies and other annoyances.
