How many actual physical hardrives do you have Lobo?

I mean, is D: drive a separate drive, or is it a partition on your main drive?
Explain your whole setup in more detail.

Main drive partition, 2 partitions, C and D, I need to know how to boot image on drive , partition D:)

On C: drive in the root, there is a file called boot.ini
Open it and look for a line with something similar to this:
disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(0)\

change the "partition(0)" to partition(1), save, and reboot.

Post back and let me know how it goes.

If I type msconfig in run box, under boot.ini it already says "partition(0)" to partition(1),:) :)

Sorry, I was reading my own boot.ini.

Make it partition(2) instead.

Post your boot.ini in here.

Lobo, I'm not so sure you can boot into it like you want to.
Since it is a image of C:, all program installs and OS file pointers will be pointing to files on C:
You can try it, but even if it seems to work, it's because the files are still on C: too.

You really need to reinstall the OS, and put it on D: I think.
Try it, you can always edit the boot.ini back to original.

I did not image the whole drive just C drive or partition, copied it to CD RW and just want a backup:)

If all you want is a backup then just use Ghost to make the image file, and burn the image file onto a regular CDR disk. Just the image file itself, don't burn the image onto the CD, only the file.

When you want to use it as a backup, just pop in a ghost Dos disk, and point it to the image file on the CD, and use the "Image file to Partition" option, and overwrite C: with the image on the CD.

And quit changing your mind :D

Had to try it and it worked, install a complete clone of your hard drive in less than 5 minutes, so reformatting is nothing:D :D :D

Good stuff Lobo, glad you got it figured out.
Imaging a drive is the best way to make a backup of everything. Now you need to image it every so often to save any new files since the last image was done.

I save an image every week or so. Then dump one of the old ones to save room on my 3rd partition (that's where I put them)

I also keep an old image I made after reinstalling windows, updating it, tweaking it, and installing all my fav software.
Makes it easy to go back to a fresh install if I need to.
