Linksys 10/100TX v5.1

Using this NIC with WindowsXP and I can't get it to work. When I try to install the card XP tells me that there was a problem with installing the HW. I have tried to boot the system and let it see the card and auto install drivers. I have tried to use the update drivers and use the driver disk that came with the nic. btw the driver dates are 7/01 on the disk and on the Linksys site. So I had to go back and use my Kingston nic which i was going to put on my 98SE box and use the Linksys for this XP box.

It sounds like you have a bad NIC. Is this a new card or have you used it before? Have you tried it in the 98 box?

The Linksys NIC is new and I haven't yet tried it in the 98 box. To be done soon.

It sound like you may have a IRQ conflict .windows xp will not let you install something that not going to work. what you should do is move the card to another PCI slot . there is a sharing conflict .sometimes it the modem or the mouse the mouse is allways on IRQ 12 , soundcard IRQ 5. you may have to go into setup and set the IRQ for the card.
