sup. Here is my prblem

sometimes when i start up my system ( WIN2K ) whe the first loading screen come out i get the message ( something like this ) "Windows could not start because the <Windows/root> ntsokrnl is missing or corrupted. Please re-install a copy of the file above"

Why is that and why?? that only happens some times and if i boot my system after that i am able to start windows normaly, or sometimes windows tries to start but it says xxx driver coulndt be started?? why is thT ??

could it be a bad sector on the HDD ??? Cluster??? FDISK????

help!!!!!

Have you tried de-clocking back to default speeds, and see if it's more reliable at that point. I know NT more often usually gives an IRQ_LESS_THAN error when it's overclocked too high, but you can get others, depending on the system.

Run error checking (checkdisk, which is NTs version of scandisk), then defrag.

Ya, check your hard disk and defrage it. It's possiable you do have bad sectors causing this problem .. but seeing it works intermittently have yuo checked your controller cables, check your BIOS setting for your hard disks etc... maybe mobo problem?

my sys is not overclocked YET!!!

today i got the same error and i boot it 3 times just to start and when it did it gave me another error "service.exe" coulndt be started WINDOWS IS SHUTING DONW

???????

and fdisk says is not necessary to defrag the disk
SOOoo........

Have you ever tried to do anything about the problem other than rebooting. If not, you might want to run the Repair Option to see if that clears things up. As you are getting more than one "error" message, there might be something else that is triggering the error messages.

SOOoo........

right click your boot drive in my computer, click properties, tools, error-checking

and i'll ask again,

but seeing it works intermittently have yuo checked your controller cables, check your BIOS setting for your hard disks etc... maybe mobo problem?

When does fdisk even mention defrag?FDISK is for creating or deleting partions.FDISK could care less about fragmentation

I figured as long as FDisk wasn't asking to format c: it wasn't too bad. :D

Trying to help.....
If this doesn't happen at every boot, we can rule out bad ram.
Bad sectors? Well maybe, but unlikley too, since it boots most of the time ok.

Sounds to me like a bad cable, or a loose connection.
Check connections to the drives and mobo on all the IDE cables, and/or try a new cable if you can. Don't just check the cables either, take them off, and put them back on again, snug.

Murman already mentioned this, but it may have been overlooked.

I've never seen FDISK having FORMAT as an option either.

Can you tell us which driver it is - is it necessary. could it be an
old entry in the registry? i.e. a previous entry that wasn't deleted?

What is your motherboard?...lemme guess...Via chipset?

Latest drivers for it installed?

Next time you blue screen on bootup, jot down the entire message and post it.

I was reading your sig....which led me to believe you were overclocking.

And yes FDISK will get rid of your blue screen errors...for good....LOL.

well i just home from work and GUESS what happend when i turned on my PC????? i got this message

"STOP:C000026C {UNABLE TO LOAD DEVICE DRIVER}
\SYSTEMROOT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\RDBSS.SYS
ERROR STATS WAS OXC0000221"

Thats what i got ( I DONT REMEMBER IF ITS THE SAME ERROR EVERYTIME ) The blue screen sugested me to disable somethings on the BIOS and the first one i am trying is "Bios shadow" or something like "Video Bios Shadow" eather of those.

MY MOBO IS THIS ONE RIGHT HERE (http://www.msi.com.tw/products/mainboard/mainboard.php?model=MS-6321)

BUT WITHOUT THAT MANY IDE CONNECTION ("whcich makes me think ??? that MOTHER F*CKER changed my MOBO when he was building it about 1 year ago F*CK [sorry about that] ) mine has only one white and one blue and is very similar to THIS MOBO RIGHT HERE (http://www.msi.com.tw/products/mainboard/mainboard.php?model=MS-6362) but the sockets are in different positions( they are like on the first link.

oh another thing i just notice that when i had the old processors the voltage was whether 3.5 ot 5.5 now its 4 ( now they are 1Ghz each before they were 600Mhz ) Is that ok now that they are 1Ghz or ....... ?????

well hope some1 can help me

thanks in advanced

hello....... any1 there

i was thinking could it be because i move my controller card??
i dont think soo but i want to make sure

Did you move the controller before or after the Repair. If it is the latter, run the repair again.

Norm .. I guess we can "assume" he checked the cables and connections

yes i checked the cables and every connection. and yes i run the rapair after moving the Controller card

Does that have anythign to do ????

If it hasn't been mentioned, I don't know what it is unless your controller doesn't like where it is.

Checking the cables doesn't necessarily make good connections, I hope you reseated them all, not just looked at them.

Start from the beginning and set your BIOS to default settings too, your ram may be set at the wrong CAS setting., or something may be overclocked without your knowing it.
Check the CPU fan too.

It's hardware problem for sure, but what?, remains to be found by troubleshooting everything.

Definitely start fresh and from the beginning in the BIOS, and cable connections.
Use default clock settings for CPU and ram, reset then, don't just believe they are set right. BIOS defaults.
