I need some help setting up a dual boot sytem so I thought I'd come to the pros !

I have a 866 PIII running W98 S.E. and recently installed a second 40 GB hard drive and would like to run dual OS's, preferrably 98 on one and Windows 2000 professional on the other.

Can I simply install W2000 on the second hard drive ? Will my programs on the original hard drive work under the new OS ? How do you know which system you are starting in at boot up and how can you switch systems ? So many questions !

I would appreciate any ideas or links to websites that an intermediate computer user would find helpful.

Thanks again for an excellent source and all your help !

Yes you would boot off your win2000 CD follow the prompts until you get to the partition selection and choose your new HD to install 2000 to.

As for your programs... you need to reinstall emm with in win 2000 "some" of your programs may work that are on your win98 partition, you'll have to try emm, older one's prob will... it depends on the program, office you'll need to reinstall, outlook etc ....

When you run a dual boot system, upon bootup you have a choice of which OS you wanna boot to, choose, hit enter and your off and running. To switch from system to system yo need to reboot and choose your OS on the boot loader menu.
