Make sure you get newest version Download SG Optimizer to your desktop, select connection type at top, select optimal settings at bottom, Select adapter you are using, click on apply changes at very bottom, and REBOOT .
If you wish to enter custom TCP recieve window select custom settings at bottom, enter what you wish, click on apply changes at bottom and REBOOT.
If using Cablenuts adjuster too, you must first bring up adjuster, click on delete Cablenut Tweaks at bottom and reboot, then download and install optimizer.

Optimizer in my signature:)
Do your speed tests here after you turn off all running programs http://www.testmyspeed.com/internationalspeedtests.htm , select site nearest to you, turn everything off thats running, Check Taskbar, 1 browser, clear cache

BEFORE SPEEDTEST
1.) Make sure defrag has been run, defragmented files slow you down.
2. At top of IE, click on Tools, internet options, click on delete files and click on offline files (It's safe), click on clear history, yes
3.) Go to Start button, programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup, Click OK (Safe)
4.) Run scandisk (Short version)
5.) Scandisk on XP?
Click on My Computer, select Drive that XP is on, RIGHT click on BLANK place, select properties, then tools at top tab, click check now, check box automattically fix system errors, click start,
then test. Turn all running programs off. Reboot computer so you have all your RAM

Yes m8 - I already d/l the optimizer last night but for some godforsaken (prolly windows related ) reason the .exe wont run - i have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to see that its just sat there not responding ,so i was wandering if theres a way of editing it manually - the reason is I did the TCP/IP analizer test and it returned that the only thing which needs to be modified was the RWIN value...

thanks for the fast response :D

Test looks OK if it is 98SE, Call your ISP, they must be having some kind of problem or smoking at the switch, hehe, still can't prononce that handle:) :) :D

Ok thanks agian - I would phone my ISP but i kinda got fed up with the 45 min & beyond waiting for a response ,

I think I'll do it on a day when i got the picnic basket ready ,freezer full of beer & the patience of a saint or i could say some things to them I wouldn't regret ;)

Yea, if it's like it is over here it's a all day process, just tell them you may take screwdriver to modem to see if that works, lol:)

Switch over to XP and try it, it works with XP, if that does not work, take Lenox Lewis with you to ISP office:)

hey Lobo - I managed to get the patch on the 10th attempt ;)

I was gonna try Xp on my next reformat cos my hdisk aint really big enuff for dual boot but from what i hear alot of the games i play online wont work uunder XP - sumthing im currently looking into before I make the step over :-

Just thought you might wanna see my results after I applied the patch :

TCP properties for IP = xx.xxx.xxx.xxx ()

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.

Also try Tcp Windows of 531440, 554800, 578160, 601520, 642400:) :)

Use this tool to change number if you need to: hare (http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html)

Lobo
02-21-02, 09:01 PM
Try these too but Tcp1323Opts scaling uncheck if number is below 65535, try 32120, 51100, 64240, don't forget to check box back if number is higher than 65535, always apply changes, and REBOOT each time you change number:)

Also try this: hare (http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/cable_irq.shtml)
