Ever since I upgraded from 98se to xp home edition, the computer would automatically restart and check the disk for consistency at the log in screen if I left it idle for about 5 min. As long as you logged in before the computer restarted, you were fine. Now after about 3 months, it finishes the disk check (everything passes ok), but then a blue screen comes up, and it says something in the top left hand corner. Immediately after the blue screen comes up, the compter restarts to repeat the cycle. So far, i've been able to make up the words physical memory and allocation on the blue screen before the computer restarts again. Someone please help! Ahoyhoy

Check your event logs. They should give you an idea of what is causing the problem.

Control Panel>Administrator Tools. I believe you'll find the event logs in there somewhere.

Sounds Like you may have a software conflict going on. Or a hardware conflict. Win Xp may have updated some of your drivers for your video card and so forth. Check your System device manager. To make sure there are no hardware conflicts going on. You can also check the reg. By going into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControl\Control\Shutdown\
String Value = ShutDown= 1.
If the string value is set at 0 change it to 1. This will allow the computer to shutdown. Good Luck!;) Hope this helps out!

boot into safe mode...

right click on MY COMPUTER>>click PROPERTIES>>click ADVANCED>>in the STARTUP AND RECOVERY section, click SETTINGS>>in the SYSTEM FAILURE section, UNCHECK the box that says AUTOMATICALLY RESTART.

Then reboot. When the BSOD appears, write down the error code and post it here. Someone should be able to help.
